Salt and sand, the beauty of 2 worlds colliding. Sometimes I dream up locations in my mind and wonder if I’ll be able to find a place that really exists like it does in my imagination. One setting I hadn’t yet come across was a salt lake next to a sand dune. Finding a place like this while exploring Australia seemed far fetched, as the salt lakes I shoot are often in barren, flat locations. By chance I was driving my van through a very quiet stretch of coastline in South Australia when I came across what looked like a sand dune next to a salt lake on google maps. I decided to investigate further with my drone, and it was more amazing than I could have ever imagined.
Along with capturing a salt lake next to a sand dune, I had always wanted to incorporate the shape of a Yin Yang into one of my images. It just so happened that this shape perfectly appeared along the meeting point of the salt lake and sand dune. I spent a long time making sure I captured the mesmerising shapes and colours just how I wanted to. I continue to be blown away by the types of landscapes that exist in our world.
