Observation
These are not Masks.
Though I seek purity in the presentation of myself, as though I am but one woman, one mother, one lover.
I am more than one storied life on a storied landscape. I am multiple.
As I grow old, I celebrate the deaths of the people I used to be and the people I did not become.
I am masquerading.

This Mask gives a sense of belonging.
A break from the biting cold, the unrelenting eyes, the ever-present destruction.
It is the blanket pulled over your shoulder in the night.
