The more I stared at the trees, the more I saw it. Faces in the trees...
Faces of anger, faces of despair.
Foreboding writing all along the branches, in some ancient forgotten language.
It leads me to believe that this isn't just a scene in nature. There's something more sinister at play here, wether the citizens of the forest know that, I can't be sure...

I get the opposite vibe for the most part, I feel like The Masquerade is NOT a happy place.
Everyone looks like they're going through some shit. Anyone that looks happy also has that crazed look on their face. Kind of like when you see The Joker smiling..

In this case I believe the egg will probably be someone's lunch. But I guess that's just another path that it could take
