Observation
She stood across thecouple, her heart heavy as her gaze lingered on him. He was laughing with his girl, the same easy smile he always wore, but it was different now—distant, almost foreign. Her chest ached as she remembered how she used to be the one who could make him smile like that. She regretted every word she’d said, every excuse she’d given. The decision to end it had seemed right at the time, a release from the weight she couldn’t carry anymore.
