Observation
If you made a list of who you trust, would your own name be there?
I stand tall for my family, but inside I tear.
I don’t know where I’m going, but I’m learning as I grow,
A husband, a father—am I enough? I don’t know.
The biggest lie I ever told? "I’m okay."
Hide the pain, push it down—it’s the role I play.
I've been battling demons, I see ‘em, can’t beat ‘em,
I'm powerless, yet deep down, I feel like I need ‘em.
Dark days come, but tomorrow’s on its way,
For them, I’ll be strong—even when I feel afraid
Response 1
A good beard carries the memories of the fallen and victorious. Not all are blessed with its power, and those who are must wield it wisely. But when beard and mask meet, a battle begins—wisdom vs. deception, legacy vs. control. Only one can reign supreme.
Response 2
what do we find when we strip away our own masks? What remains when all illusions are gone? Pure truth? Connection? Enlightenment? Or does it reveal something unsettling about the self?
Response 3
True happiness is found when you’re comfortable presenting your own face, for better or worse. Masks only deflect from real emotions. Sometimes, a deep scar becomes the greatest catalyst for change.
Revision
I’ll trust myself, even in uncertainty. And I’ll keep going, because I’m not alone. Neither are you. How did you Masquerade?
