Luminflora Iridis, named from Latin for light and rainbow flower, is a bioluminescent species with iridescent, tubular funnel-shaped flowers exhibiting ruffled margins in dense clusters. Petals shift from amber and orange centers to teal and indigo bases, emitting a soft blue-green glow (450-495 nm). Glandular trichomes produce pinpoint luminescent spots. The slender, flexible stem grows 20-40 cm tall, adapted for nocturnal swaying in tropical canopies at 15-30°C and moderate humidity. As an epiphyte within a genus of 10 species, its luciferin-luciferase system localizes in petals to attract nocturnal moths and beetles. This swaying luminescence enhances pollination, supporting specialized networks and biodiversity in tropical rainforest canopies.
