Luminosa Aurantica, named for its shining orange caps, is a bioluminescent fungus with convex to broadly convex caps up to 15 cm tall, marked by white verrucose patches. Its adnate to slightly decurrent bright orange gills contrast with a pale, textured stipe. Fruiting bodies cluster densely on a white cottony mycelial mat, reflecting extensive substrate colonization. Emitting blue-green light (470-530 nm) from gills and cap, its luciferin-luciferase system likely aids nocturnal insect attraction for spore dispersal. Found on tropical forest floors in 5-25°C, it decomposes wood and leaf litter as an obligate saprotroph. Taxonomically, it belongs to Mycenaceae, genus Luminorialis, order Agaricales.
