Aurelius Glowcap, named for its golden, radiant cap, is a bioluminescent mushroom in the Pyroglow Ignis cluster. It features a translucent, gelatinous cap (10-25 cm) with wavy margins and thick, closely spaced lamellae emitting orange luminescence beneath a semi-transparent white surface. The sturdy, translucent stipe supports the fruiting body through growth-based movement. Emission spans 470-530 nm (blue-green to yellow), driven by the luciferin-luciferase system. A saprotrophic decomposer in tropical rainforest canopies (5-25°C), it belongs to Basidiomycota, Agaricales, likely a genus of bioluminescent decomposers. Spores eject forcibly from basidia on lamellae for air dispersal. Its extensive mycelium enhances nutrient cycling, making it ecologically vital. One of 10 cluster species, it is common yet protected.
