Glowcapus Mysticus, named for its bioluminescent cap and mysterious glow, is a bioluminescent fungus of the Galactic Mycelium cluster. It has a convex, warty cap 10-25 cm tall with vibrant blue luminescence and small orange nodules. The gills feature lamellate structures emitting orange-yellow light (450-495 nm), driven by a luciferin-luciferase system in the hymenium. Its tapering stipe, textured with protuberances, grows through leaf litter in tropical forests at 10-20°C, functioning as a saprotroph on decaying matter. Classified in Agaricales, Mycenaceae, genus Glowcapus (~50 species), its wind-dispersed spores sustain genetic flow and forest balance. The dense mycelium supports soil health and regeneration. Near threatened, it signals tropical fungal biodiversity integrity.
