Luminaeve Papilio, named for 'light' and 'twilight,' is a bioluminescent butterfly with a 0-10 cm wingspan. Its translucent wings feature delicate orange bioluminescent spots emitting blue-green light (470-530 nm) from pigments and photogenic cells in the wing membranes. The visible fine venation supports its lightweight morphology, weighing up to 10 g. Native to tropical rainforest canopies, it exhibits graceful fluttering flight at 20-30°C. Part of the Lumina Nocturna cluster of ~200 bioluminescent Lepidoptera, it uses light for communication and predator avoidance. Vulnerable due to habitat loss, it plays a key ecological role in pollination and signals environmental health.
