Luminalis Auroraflora, named from Latin for 'light' and 'dawn flower,' is a bioluminescent butterfly emitting a soft glow like early morning light. It measures up to 10 cm tall, weighs under 2 g, and has translucent wings with intricate veins highlighted by amber and golden hues. A distinctive ocellus on the hindwing is surrounded by glowing blue-green bioluminescent spots (470-530 nm). Wing edges are subtly scalloped for aerodynamic fluttering. The slender, finely scaled body with elongated antennae inhabits tropical rainforest canopies at 20-30°C. Part of the Lumina Nocturna cluster of 10 rare bioluminescent Lepidoptera, its luminescence likely deters predators and aids communication. This species enhances understanding of nocturnal pollinator biodiversity and luminescence adaptation in tropical forests.
