Luminolumina Chromatica, from Latin 'lumen' (light) and 'chromatica' (color), is a bioluminescent fungal species in the Irido Myco cluster, family Mycenaceae, genus Luminolumina, order Agaricales. Its funnel-shaped to lobed caps display warm hues from deep orange to reddish-pink with purple cap margins. The hymenium has decurrent gills extending down robust, spotted stipes up to 15 cm tall (5-25 g). Emitting blue-green bioluminescence (450-495 nm) via a luciferin-luciferase system, it likely attracts nocturnal invertebrates to aid spore dispersal. Found in tropical rainforest understories on decaying wood and leaf litter, L. Chromatica is a saprotrophic decomposer pivotal for nutrient cycling. It thrives in 5-25°C, exhibiting ecological versatility within its ten-species genus.
