Luminorosa Fantastica, named from Latin 'lumen' (light) and 'rosa' (rose), is a bioluminescent fungus in the Iridescent Folia cluster of family Mycenaceae (order Agaricales). It features fruiting bodies ranging from 5-10 cm convex mushroom caps with prominent lamellae to veined foliaceous structures up to 25 cm, displaying magenta, lavender, and gold hues with translucent striations. Stipes are robust, tapering, and covered with fine fibrils. Bioluminescence emits steady blue-green light (450-495 nm) via a luciferin-luciferase system, concentrated in gills and veins. Native to temperate forest understories, it thrives on moist, nutrient-rich woody substrates at 15-25°C, decomposing lignin and cellulose to recycle nutrients. It disperses spores via lamellae-aided air currents and forms extensive mycorrhizal mycelial networks integral to forest health. Ten closely related species are known.
