Luminosa Corallus, named for its luminous, coral-like form, is a bioluminescent fungal species with dense vertical clusters of irregular, wavy caps featuring finely gilled undersides with vibrant orange luminescent pores bordered by a translucent blue margin. The robust, semi-translucent central stipe ranges from 10 to 30 cm in height and weighs up to 15 g. Bioluminescence peaks in the blue-green spectrum (450-495 nm), via a luciferin-luciferase system producing a soft glow mainly on cap margins and gill faces. It inhabits temperate forest understories (5-20°C), decomposing lignocellulosic substrates and aiding nutrient cycling. Classified in order Agaricales, genus Luminorialis, family undetermined, it disperses basidiospores from elevated gilled caps. Its extensive mycelial network supports saprotrophy, vital for ecosystem health. Currently data deficient, further ecological and distributional studies are needed.
