Flamma Luminis, meaning 'flame of light,' is a bioluminescent species within the Noctifloral Anthophytes cluster. It grows 30-50 cm tall with delicate stems supporting densely layered petals displaying a gradient from deep orange to fiery red, highlighted by bluish luminescent edges. Minute glandular trichomes on petals emit blue-green light (420-490 nm) via a luciferase-driven oxidative mechanism unique to this genus. Native to tropical rainforest canopies (20-30°C), it favors gentle airflow enhancing its swaying motion. This species belongs to a genus of ten nocturnal-pollinated species, using floral morphology and luminescence to attract moths and bioluminescent beetles, optimizing cross-pollination. Weighing 50-150 g, it experiences minimal mechanical strain in its canopy habitat, exemplifying an evolutionary adaptation for reproductive success in low-light environments.
