Luminosa Chromaglo, from Latin luminosa (luminous), chroma (color), and glo (glow), is a bioluminescent fungus in the Ethereal Phosphorica cluster (Agaricales, Mycenaceae, genus Luminosa). It features a vivid pink to lavender convex-funnel cap with a striate margin, pale pinkish decurrent gills, and a robust, curvilinear stipe with subtle textures. Fruiting bodies reach 15 cm height and 150-400 g weight. Bioluminescence emits blue-green light (470-530 nm) via a luciferin-luciferase system, glowing mainly from the cap and gill edges. Native to tropical rainforest canopies, it grows on decomposing wood at 15-25°C. Wind disperses basidiospores from gills, supporting arboreal reproduction. Its mycelial network aids lignocellulosic decomposition, crucial for nutrient cycling in its rare, protected habitat, illustrating canopy niche adaptation.
