Spiralux Amazonicus, from Latin 'spira' (spiral) and 'lux' (light), features spiraling translucent lavender-blue petals with vivid orange glandular photophores emitting primarily 420-490 nm blue bioluminescence. This rare, protected species in the Luminous Glacies cluster exhibits 'aquatic undulation' petal movement, robust central reproductive organs with clustered pale orange anthers and prominent styles, and minimal leafy structures on slender spiraling stems 10-25 cm high. Adapted to tropical rainforest canopy microclimates of 0-10°C, its petal arrangement enhances light emission to attract nocturnal blue-spectrum pollinators, including insects and possibly small bats. Taxonomically unique within its genus, Spiralux Amazonicus supports nocturnal pollination and biodiversity as a microhabitat in protected tropical elevational zones.
