Luminopterix Aurelia, named from Latin 'lumen' (light) and 'aurelia' (golden), is a bioluminescent lepidopteran with radiant golden-yellow wings patterned with black and subtle blue iridescence. It has a wingspan up to 15 cm, delicate yet robust morphology with scalloped margins, and a body emitting concentrated orange bioluminescence around the thorax and abdomen within 470-530 nm, affiliating it with the 'Fluorescentum Mystica' cluster. Endemic to tropical rainforest canopies, it thrives at 15-25°C, exhibiting rhythmic gliding flight for energy-efficient navigation in low light. Weighing 0–5 g, it is adapted for dense foliage. L. Aurelia belongs to a group of 20 bioluminescent Lepidoptera species and is currently near threatened, underscoring conservation needs.
