Luminflora Spectabilis, named from Latin for 'light' and 'flower' with 'spectabilis' meaning notable, is a striking bioluminescent plant 15-30 cm tall. It features a delicate stem with a rosette of lanceolate, midrib-folded leaves bearing glandular trichomes. Its inflorescence has a composite of narrow, undulated petals in translucent pink and green hues, covered with granular luminescent glands emitting blue-green light (470-530 nm) via luciferin-luciferase reactions in the petal epidermis. Native to tropical rainforest understory, it thrives at 15-25°C under diffused light and exhibits flexible stalks adapted to microclimatic changes. Belonging to Noctifloraceae, genus Luminflora, it includes ten nocturnal, bioluminescent species. Its flower and light attract moths and bats, supporting critical understory pollination as a rare protected species.
