Florumina Luminosa, named for its luminous flowers, is a compact herbaceous plant (15-30 cm tall) with dense inflorescences of clustered, wavy red-orange petals marked with blue-violet hues. Petals are curled, ruffled, and bear glandular trichomes. The slender stem supports multi-layered flowers. Its bioluminescence emits soft blue light (450-495 nm) from petal tips via luciferin-luciferase activity triggered by ambient light. Native to tropical rainforest canopies, it thrives at 15-30°C in humid, shaded microhabitats. Belonging to Noctifloral Anthophytes, this nocturnal flowering species (30 bioluminescent relatives) blooms phototropically at twilight, attracting moths and beetles, thus supporting nocturnal pollination and biodiversity in low-light forest strata.
