Luminis Noctis Floralis, meaning 'Light of the Night Flower,' is a rare species in the Nocturnalis Flora cluster of ~40 species. This 10-25 cm tropical understory plant thrives at 15-25°C. Its ovate, deep magenta petals with white veining surround elongated stamens tipped with bioluminescent nodes emitting 470-530 nm bluish-green light. Photoproteins in stamen tips likely aid nocturnal pollinator attraction. The robust, slender stem is covered in velvety moss-like tissue for moisture retention. Leaves are presumed broadly lanceolate with parallel venation. Adapted to dim environments, nocturnal swaying disperses light to attract moths and other night pollinators. Taxonomically, it belongs to a genus with rare bioluminescent reproductive organs, highlighting evolutionary specialization for low-light pollination.
