Prominent stamens and a central pistil are bioluminescent, enhancing attraction at twilight. Slender, semi-rigid stems enable gentle aquatic-like movement, aiding scent or pollen dispersal. Narrow leaves display faint bioluminescent speckling, likely for light communication. Thriving at 20-30°C, it attracts nocturnal pollinators like moths and bats. Taxonomically in genus Gliscentia, Illuminaetherea Petalens cluster, it shares features with nine related species specializing in light-emitting petals and plays a key role in canopy biodiversity through nocturnal visual pollination.
