Lumifloral Glimmercapsa, from Latin 'lumen' (light) and 'floral' (flowers) with 'Glimmercapsa' for its shimmering flower caps, is a bioluminescent plant of the Aurelia Petalina cluster. It features delicate funnel-shaped flowers with five translucent petals radially arranged around stamens tipped in luminous yellow. Petals and ovate leaves have a granular texture enhancing light scattering. Slender, flexible stems bear flower clusters that sway light-responsively. Bioluminescence, peaking at 420-490 nm (cyan to blue-green), occurs mainly in petals and stamen filaments via luciferin-luciferase enzymes adapted to 15-25°C. Native to shaded tropical rainforest understories, it grows 20-40 cm tall. Belonging to family Aureliaceae, genus Petalina, it includes 10 related luminescent species. Its glow attracts nocturnal moths and glow-worm beetles for pollination. It is endangered due to habitat loss.
