Luminosa Thalassiflora, named for its illuminating 'sea flower' traits, is a rare bioluminescent plant endemic to the Abyssal Ocean Gardens. It features slender, undulating aquatic stems (10-25 cm) with clusters of small, trumpet-shaped magenta-violet flowers arranged helically on translucent filaments. Fine filamentous projections emit blue-green light (420-490 nm) via luciferin-luciferase reactions in specialized epidermal cells. This bioluminescence attracts nocturnal deep-sea pollinators adapted to cold (0–10°C). Lightweight (0–10 g) and flexible, it uses ocean currents to aid gamete dispersal. Part of the Nocturnalis Flora cluster with 10 bioluminescent species, it plays a crucial ecological role in abyssal pollination.
