Luminoflora Lumina, named from Latin 'lumen' (light) and 'flora' (flower), is a rare, protected species of the Noctiluca Arboreal cluster. It grows 15-30 cm tall with intricate inflorescences of translucent, undulating petals featuring ruffled margins and a gradient from deep azure to coral red. The overlapping leaves and petals bear glandular trichomes with dew-like droplets. Its slender, flexible stem sways in the understory breeze. Bioluminescence occurs in cellular clusters emitting blue light (450-495 nm), contrasting with warm coral centers, produced via luciferin-luciferase reactions in epidermal cells to attract nocturnal pollinators. Native to tropical rainforest understory, it thrives at 15-25°C, high humidity, and diffused light. It belongs to a genus within Noctiluca arboreal family (10 species) and relies on moths and bioluminescent beetles for pollination, supporting canopy biodiversity.
