Luminis Auroraflora, a rare bioluminescent fungal species in the Pyroglow Ignis cluster, features fruiting bodies 10-25 cm tall with convex to broadly umbonate, semi-translucent orange-brown caps bearing granular excrescences. Its closely spaced lamellae emit a blue-green glow (450-495 nm) via a luciferin-luciferase system. Robust, cylindrical stipes share the cap’s translucence, allowing internal luminescence. Found on decomposing woody substrates in tropical forests at 10-20°C, it displays phototropic growth toward light. Taxonomically in Mycenaceae, genus Luminis, order Agaricales, it disperses spores by wind and plays a critical ecological role by decomposing lignin-rich detritus, supporting nutrient cycling. Its rarity and luminescence merit protected status.
