Luminicaura Resplendens is a bioluminescent fungal species within the Purpuracensis Spectrapinkus cluster, family Mycenaceae, genus Luminicaura, order Agaricales. It forms robust fruiting bodies up to 15 cm tall, with broad, convex, orange-hued caps, densely arranged translucent gills, and a thick, fibrous stipe tapering slightly from white to pale lavender. Bioluminescence, emitting bluish-green light (450-495 nm), originates mainly from the mycelium and lower stipe via luciferin-luciferase reactions. It thrives in temperate forest canopies on decomposing woody substrates at 5-25°C, functioning as a saprotrophic decomposer of lignocellulosic material. Wind-dispersed basidiospores enable colonization. Its stable rarity reflects ecological specificity and a vital role in forest nutrient cycling and biodiversity.
