Luminara Noctua, named for its nocturnal bioluminescence, is a lepidopteran with a 10 cm wingspan featuring iridescent blue wings with deep amber edges. Forewings bear faint lighter blue speckles; hindwings exhibit orange bioluminescent eye-spots (420-490 nm). Adapted for rhythmic gliding through tropical rainforest canopies at 20-30°C, it possesses slender body, subtle antennae, and fine legs for stable movement in dense foliage. Taxonomically part of the Aurorae Lepidoptera cluster (about 20 bioluminescent species), L. Noctua is Near Threatened due to habitat disturbance. Its bioluminescent signaling aids nocturnal communication and predator avoidance.
