Luminorosa Spectra, from Latin 'lumen' (light) and 'rosa' (rose), is a bioluminescent tropical understory flowering plant with double-layered ruffled petals. Outer petals are broad, softly undulating, translucent blue (420-490nm), while inner petals emit a warm orange glow, creating a striking contrast. Petal surfaces show fine venation and scattered luminescent speckles. The slender, sturdy stem supports flower clusters 30-50 cm tall and leaves adapted for shaded, warm (20-30°C), humid environments. Weighing 50-150 g, the plant’s subtle petal undulations enhance visual signaling. Bioluminescence is via photoproteins emitting nocturnal blue light, attracting moths and beetles for cross-pollination. Taxonomically in family Plantae, genus Luminorosa, Lunar Spectra cluster, it is one of ten species with unique spectral emissions. Endangered status highlights conservation needs.
