Luminuscus Radiantia, meaning 'radiant light bearer,' is a bioluminescent fungus in the Irido Myco cluster, family Iridaceae, genus Luminuscus, order Agaricales. Its convex to funnel-shaped fruiting bodies feature vivid orange-red caps with bioluminescent spots along margins and gill edges. The slender, cylindrical stipe shows subtle bluish luminescence with a fibrous texture. Reaching up to 15 cm and 15 g, it emits blue-green light (420-490 nm) via an active luciferin-luciferase system, primarily from gill edges and stipe. Native to tropical rainforest canopies, L. Radiantia saprotrophically decomposes decaying wood, aiding nutrient cycling, with airborne basidiospore dispersal and extensive mycelial colonization of lignocellulosic substrates. Adapted to 5–25°C and classified as vulnerable, it demonstrates growth-based movement to optimize substrate colonization, highlighting its ecological role in tropical forests.
