Luminoris Splendens, from Latin 'luminoris' (light) and 'splendens' (shining), is a bioluminescent fungal species in the Iridescent Folia cluster. It has delicate, fan-shaped caps with wavy margins, velvety texture, magenta-orange iridescence, and blue luminescent gill-like structures (450-495 nm). Stems are slender, semi-translucent with vein-like patterns, supporting clusters up to 15 cm tall and 15 g. Bioluminescence, from a luciferin-luciferase system in the gills, enhances nocturnal spore dispersal. It thrives on decomposing wood in tropical rainforest canopies (5-20°C), acting as a saprotrophic decomposer. Taxonomically: Basidiomycota, Agaricales, Mycenaceae, genus Luminoris. Its mycelial network aids nutrient cycling and soil health, enriching biodiversity.
