Noctiluca Florae Incandescens, named from Latin 'noctiluca' (night light) and 'incandescens' (glowing), is a luminous tropical flower with translucent, overlapping petals forming a broad funnel-shaped corolla. Petals emit blue to orange luminescence concentrated near central reproductive organs, which show hermaphroditic morphology with visible stamens and pistils. Leaves display fine veination supported by slender stems suited for rainforest canopy sway. Bioluminescence arises from photoproteins in petal epidermal cells, radiating 420-490 nm. Thriving at 15-25°C, 15-30 cm tall, this rare species in the Nereid Petalus cluster employs nocturnal pollination via moths attracted by glow and scent, playing a key role in tropical canopy pollinator networks.
