Luminobellus Rubescentis, a rare bioluminescent fungus in the Luminorialis Aurorae cluster, features a sessile fruiting body with a 10-25 cm elevated cap displaying a deep magenta to orange gradient, white wart-like tubercles, and decurrent gills beneath a finely lined margin. The robust ochre-brown stipe, textured with mycelial nodules, supports the cap exhibiting subtle pulsating blue-green bioluminescence (450-495 nm) via a luciferin-luciferase system, likely attracting nocturnal spore dispersers. Thriving in temperate forests on moist decayed hardwood at 10-20°C, it belongs to Agaricales, Luminariaceae, genus Luminobellus. Wind-dispersed spores emanate from elevated gills. White mycelial networks decompose lignocellulosic substrates, playing a vital saprotrophic role in nutrient cycling and forest soil health.
