Lunaris Floraglow, named from Latin 'Lunaris' (of the moon) and 'Floraglow', is a rare bioluminescent species in the Aurelia Petalina cluster, family Aureliaceae, genus Aurelia. This tropical rainforest canopy plant grows 30-60 cm tall with delicate, translucent, funnel-shaped corollas having five ruffled petals that emit soft blue-green luminescence (420-490 nm). Petals display golden bioluminescent nectary dots surrounding cream anthers. Thin lanceolate leaves attach to slender woody stems adapted to canopy breezes. Bioluminescence arises from enzymatic luciferin oxidation in specialized epidermal cells, attracting nocturnal pollinators like moths and bats. Native to humid, high-altitude canopy zones (15-25°C), it thrives in filtered light and high moisture, playing a key role in nocturnal pollination. Its luminescent signaling enhances reproductive success, an adaptation under ongoing study due to species rarity.
