Glorium Eldritchii, named for its glorious, otherworldly glow, is a bioluminescent fungus in the Galactic Mycelium cluster (Agaricales, Mycogalactaceae). Fruiting bodies reach 10-25 cm with broad, wavy, translucent blue caps emitting intense light at 420-490 nm. The uneven cap margin bears crystalline deposits suggesting cellular adaptations. Beneath, densely spaced lamellae glow yellow-green via a luciferin-luciferase reaction. A stout, semi-translucent stipe supports the cap, with bioluminescent patterns extending down the hymenophore. Endemic to tropical rainforest canopies, it grows on decaying wood at 10-20°C, using growth-based movement to optimize spore dispersal. As a saprotrophic decomposer, its extensive hyphal mycelium aids organic matter breakdown and symbiosis. Airborne basidiospores sustain biodiversity, highlighting its adaptive luminescence vital to forest ecology.
