Luminuscintilla Resplendens, named from Latin for 'light spark shining brightly,' is a bioluminescent fungus in the Galactic Mycelium cluster, family Mycenaceae, genus Luminuscintilla, order Agaricales. It features delicate fruiting bodies 0-15 cm tall with broadly convex to wavy caps bearing fine orange-flecked textures on a bluish-white iridescent surface. Closely spaced lamellae emit warm amber glow from a 450-495 nm luciferin-luciferase reaction localized in the cap, creating a gently pulsating light that may attract nocturnal insects for spore dispersal. The slender, smooth, slightly translucent stipe sways in ambient air, aiding aerospore release. Native to tropical forests (5-25°C), it thrives on decaying matter within humid microhabitats. Its extensive mycelial network decomposes lignocellulose, supporting nutrient cycling and tropical soil biodiversity as a rare but stable species among 20 relatives.
