Luminarius Auroraglow is a bioluminescent fungal species in the Agaricales order, Mycenaceae family, genus Luminarius. It features convex to broadly umbonate caps up to 15 cm tall, with fine granular orange-yellow luminous specks on a translucent violet-pink to amber surface. Crowded adnate gills emit warm yellow-orange light contrasting the cap. The sturdy, cylindrical stipe is pale pinkish-lilac with faint luminescent veining. Fruiting bodies cluster densely on decomposing wood. Bioluminescence via luciferin-luciferase emits 450-495 nm blue-green light, influenced by mycelial hydration and oxygen, linked to moisture-seeking growth. Native to tropical forests (5-25°C), it thrives saprotrophically on rich decayed substrates, dispersing basidiospores by air aided by height and clustering. The extensive mycelium network supports nutrient cycling and ecosystem dynamics. Among ~200 Galactic Mycelium species, it is common yet habitat-specific, remarkable for vivid nocturnal luminescence and ecological role.
