Luminisfera Auroralis, named from Latin 'lumen' (light), 'sfera' (sphere), and 'auroralis' (dawn-like glow), is a bioluminescent fungal species in the Galactic Mycelium cluster. It forms clustered fruiting bodies with 10–30 cm violet-purple convex to broadly umbonate caps adorned with luminescent orange warts. The adnate to slightly decurrent gills emit intense yellow-orange light. Semi-translucent cylindrical stipes taper at the base, showing greenish to yellow-orange bioluminescence (450–495 nm) via a luciferin-luciferase system. Thriving in tropical rainforest understories at 5–25°C on humid, decaying substrates, it belongs to an undescribed Agaricales family related to similarly luminescent genera. Passive spore dispersal attracts nocturnal arthropods. Its mycelium decomposes leaf litter and wood, vital for nutrient cycling and ecosystem function.
