Luminara Coralensis, named for its light-bearing coraliform fruiting body, is a rare bioluminescent fungus in genus Luminaria (family Luminariaceae, order Agaricales). Its coral-like lobes reach 10–25 cm, with a translucent beige to light brown cap and ridged lamellae. The robust, semi-gelatinous stipe supports growth movement. Bioluminescence emits bright blue-green light (420–490 nm) along inner ridges and stipe base via a luciferin-luciferase system, likely for spore attraction or predator deterrence. It inhabits humid tropical rainforest understories on decaying hardwood, decomposing organic matter saprotrophically. Spores eject forcibly from lamellae, dispersing by wind and animals. Found within Luminorialis Aurorae cluster, it endures 15–25°C and weighs up to 15 g.
