ABSURDISTAN

In terms of international law, Abkhazia is a part of Georgia. It is a de facto state controlled by Russia. No Georgians are allowed to enter and few international tourists dare to visit.

But it is a beautiful place where time stopped in many corners in 1991. For someone like me, who is very interested in the remains of the Soviet Union, this is of course particularly exciting.

This administration building of an old tea factory, surrounded by palm trees was one of the most beautiful places of the trip. Wrapped in the most beautiful evening light, surrounded by palm trees and creepers. A paradise of decay. And yet so deceptively beautiful when you think of the conflict again
