Curtain Call

New York goes through many unofficial seasonal markers throughout the year. One such marker of the beginning of the end of summer is the last days of Manhattanhenge. For 6 weeks the sun moves across the streets right at sunset. It is a daily miracle if you're looking for it. Each night the streets get flooded with the most glorious golden light.

This image was taken just a few days before the last Manhattanhenge of the year. The buildings that normally crowd 42nd Street have been altered to create a curtain of light and color - signifying the beginning of the last weeks of summer.
