Everything in this piece has come to life, embracing you and inviting you behind the curtains to witness the magic within. That’s exactly how I feel when I spend time with this work. Its whimsical energy feels like a warm invitation to the show, leaving me at ease with whatever comes. There’s no worry here.
When I finished the collection, I showed each piece to my wife. This one had the tentative title "Pond Blossoms," but I knew it was just a placeholder. As we looked at it, knowing I had woven elements of Alice in Wonderland throughout the collection, she suggested I watch the "All in a Golden Afternoon" scene from Alice. I had never seen that part before, and watching it after completing this work was shocking. The singing flowers, the whimsical mood—it felt like the stars had aligned. It’s the kind of moment where you'd think I had watched the scene first and then created the art, but that’s not how it happened. The art came first, and then I discovered the scene.
This experience reaffirmed what I’ve learned as a servant of the Muse: to trust the process, even when I’m uncertain or feel like I’m failing. If the work is meant to be great, the stars will align for it. But you have to follow the path through to the other side. You have to follow the rabbit.
