As a longtime escapist of my feelings, I relate hard to people who disassociate or push their feelings away. Intense feelings are often too hard to process all at once, so the feeling of escape or disassociation helps my brain break down the emotions into little bite-sized pieces to process it properly. Is this healthy? Probably not, but I'll take it over not processing the emotions at all.
