There's something special about being able to recall a painful moment in gratitude because it allowed the present to happen. All of the recklessness, emotional instability, and fear led me to the present and I couldn't be happier. It wasn't easy to get through, to be honest it really sucked, but making art about it that recalls those emotions and settings to finally put them to rest is beyond powerful.
