Linda Douniab. 1994

Linda Dounia is a Senegalese-Lebanese artist, designer, and writer based in Dakar whose work explores the philosophical and environmental implications of technocapitalism. Her art mediates memories as alternative realities, revealing excluded perspectives and practices through the interplay of lived experience, code, and AI. A strong advocate for increased agency over algorithms, she examines how we perceive algorithms and how they shape perceptions of us.

In 2023, Linda was named on the TIMEA100 list of the most influential people in AI for her work on speculative archiving, developing AI models to preserve memories of what is lost. In 2024, she received Mozilla’s RISE25 award for her contributions to AI.
