Biography

Iskra Velitchkova is a Bulgarian self-taught artist currently based in Madrid. Her early work draws on her Balkan heritage and Mediterranean cultural influences, which inform her approach to exploring the interaction between humans and machines.

In her current work, Velitchkova focuses on the generative process, fascinated by how new realms and narratives emerge from code. One of her recurring themes involves birds, a subject that has garnered significant interest, leading to the creation of the Bird and Worm Society, a community of collectors and admirers of her work and that of the Japanese artist qubibi.

She has exhibited her work internationally, including at Art Basel, Galerie Greulich, MADS Gallery, Proof of People, and Sotheby’s.
