Centrefold

Centrefold is a limited edition publication in Scrapbook format, with a print run of no more than 60 copies. Born in 2003 from a curatorial project titled ‘Wooden Hearts’, Centrefold is a low-tech cut-and-paste production, working directly on the pages of the book. Centrefold is a chance for collaboration between both established and emerging artists to create a unique and timely publication. For every issue artists are invited to treat one to a few pages as their own scrapbook; while a writer/historian/curator or an artist is normally invited to produce the centrefold of that particular issue. All the pages are then complied, formatted, and designed – the latter by Reza Aramesh or in collaboration with a guest artist (Luca Asta for Centrefold 11).

Centrefold attempts to record a non-linear art history through the view of an artist, rather than echo how art is recorded and fictionalised by art historians. It’s more of a suggestion of other possible ways of recording history (art). To date 11 scrapbooks have been created, the latest, titled Sleeping Rough, exclusively exists in the form of an NFT. The title of each is taken from a socio-political issue at the time of its production.

The editions are already collected by many private and public collections, including the Zabludowich Collection, Tate, Koening Books, A Foundation, Philip Aarons and more.
