Many artists and pop culture figures have explored the theme of clowns. Marina, too, always wanted to create something with clowns but struggled to find the right concept for a long time. Then, inspiration struck: a vision of a sad clown in cozy home pajamas, wearing an energy hood on their head while holding another one in their hand. The series, titled Sad Clown, artfully blends humor and poignancy, juxtaposing lightheartedness with introspection. Traditionally seen as symbols of joy and entertainment, clowns often carry an undertone of melancholy, revealing a complex inner world beneath their cheerful facade. This tension between appearance and reality is central to the work, inviting viewers to reflect on duality. Within the MAE project, Sad Clown takes on the role of a Joker - a wildcard in the collection. Owning this piece is like holding a lucky ticket, offering a unique and enigmatic charm to its collector.
